When I make art I tend to gravitate towards melancholic themes and colors, so painting with saturated colors was really a melancholy-antidote for me.
It was at first challenging and I was a bit sceptical but I really enjoyed the process and the results. A few of the first paintings hung in the entrance of our home for a while and they were having such an positive effect on my mood, that I kind of stuck with it. And I hope that they may have the same effect on others. In my future work I am aspiring to blend classical painting with these bright colors.
Colors play a huge role in our mood and happiness. When we choose colors that are soothing and relaxing, such as blues and greens, we feel calmer and more relaxed. Hyper-saturated colors have the opposite effect on our brains – adrenaline kicks in.
